Anesthesia

Anesthesia at Oral Surgery +

At Oral Surgery + Monroe, patient comfort and safety are our highest concerns. To guarantee a positive and painless experience during oral surgical procedures, we provide a variety of anesthesia choices delivered by our skilled team of anesthesia professionals.

Types of Anesthesia:

  • Local Numbing: Local numbing involves the delivery of medication directly to the treatment area to numb the nerves and block sensation. It is commonly used for minor oral surgeries and allows patients to remain awake and aware during the procedure while experiencing minimal discomfort.
  • IV Relaxation: Intravenous (IV) relaxation, also known as twilight sedation, involves the delivery of relaxing medications through a vein to induce a state of deep relaxation and reduced awareness. Patients may drift in and out of consciousness but can typically respond to verbal cues from the oral surgeon.
  • Complete Sleep: General anesthesia involves the delivery of medications to induce a temporary loss of consciousness, rendering the patient completely asleep and unaware during the procedure. It is typically reserved for complex or lengthy surgeries and is delivered and monitored by a board-certified anesthesiologist.

Our Approach to Anesthesia:

  • Pre-Procedure Check: Before your procedure, our anesthesia team will conduct a thorough check of your medical history, current medications, and any preexisting health conditions to determine the most appropriate anesthesia choice for you.
  • Informed Agreement: We will explain the risks and benefits of anesthesia and address any questions or concerns you may have. Your safety and comfort are our primary concerns, and we will tailor the anesthesia plan to meet your individual needs.
  • Monitoring and Attention: Throughout your procedure, our anesthesia team will closely monitor your vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, to ensure your safety and well-being. We will adjust anesthesia levels as needed to maintain optimal comfort and control pain.
  • After-Procedure Care: After your procedure, our team will provide you with detailed after-procedure instructions and monitor your recovery closely. We will ensure that you are comfortable and provide any necessary medications or follow-up care to support your healing process.

At Oral Surgery + Monroe, we are committed to providing excellent anesthesia services to ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience for our patients.
